About Victorian Era Wiki
For the Victorian Era wiki page, I was assigned to create and compose the page of Queen Victoria. From writing the context to collecting images of the page, I designed and completed this page by myself. For this project, our group split up the work: Dusty worked on the page of Monarchy, Sarah worked on the page of Government, and I worked on the page of Queen Victoria.
For this wiki project, I think I still need improvement on the context. Although I included a lot of information and a quote, I did not specifically point out the connection between Queen Victoria and the detective genre that was created by Conan Doyle because I had not yet find solid evidence and articles to explain the correlation of the two. However, I think I had great visual presentation. The page was appealing and colorful, which attracted the attention of the viewers. Every paragraph had one or more images to show the appearance of a person or a historical subject. This would make the viewers have an easier time absorbing the information; also, seeing images would have helped the viewer to remember the content. Yet, the formatting of the studio was quite difficult. For example, I could not put the caption below each photo, and the alignment was always off.
Although we finished this wiki project, I did not feel our group working as a team. We split up the work individually and rarely communicated with each other. Since this is my very first group project, I had no experience and I was afraid to speak up for my opinions or ideas. If I had another chance to do this project, I would be more initiative. For example, our pages did not have the same format and fonts, which looks messy and incoherent. Also, we did not help each other to create his or her page. If we had more time, I would like to take responsibility for visual images and formatting for all three pages, and someone could be responsible for editing or proofreading.
About Cinematic Wiki
For the Cinematic wiki page, I volunteered to create and compose the page of Montage and Offscreen Sound & Space. Although I am not the group leader, I am willing to do more work and contribute more effort in the group. The page of MOS is created by Shaneen Lin, and Pan is created by Mansi Tyagi. After we created pages and finished basic information and definition, I asked my group mates if they are willing to contribute some works on each of our pages; such as, I would responsible for editing and posting video clips, someone would responsible for editing, and the other would do hyperlink for keywords and formatting. This group project turned out really well. Each of us was able to focus on one specific job instead of doing proofreading, formatting and video editing alone. Because we well divided up the work, we worked efficiently. Other than creating pages of Montage and Offscreen Sounds & Space, I edited video clips for most of examples. I looked up examples from Youtube, and edited them. The process consumed a lot of time from downloading, editing to uploading, yet I love doing this because it is really interesting to me. If we have more time to do this wiki project, I would like to spend more time on video clips. I feel that I can edit better if I have a lot more time. Other than this, I think our group did decent job on this project!
